Fleishman-Hillard is one of Canada’s largest integrated, full-service public affairs and communications firms. We are seeking a junior communications and public affairs professional to join our Vancouver team.

Associate Consultant

The Role

As an Associate Consultant you will provide support to all account teams at Fleishman-Hillard in Vancouver and help manage public relations/public affairs projects from the development and planning stage through to implementation and results.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Research and planning
· Writing and preparing first draft materials for clients and external audiences
· Participating in internal and external client meetings
· Contributing ideas for client programs and new business opportunities
· Close and frequent communication with representatives of the news media
· Tracking client issues in a variety of sectors through news media, government and online sources
· Managing the media database
· Providing event and logistics support
· Administrative and reception support/backup.

Qualifications

· Degree or diploma in communications or other relevant field
· Recent graduate with coop, summer term or 1 year experience with a communications agency, government, politics, NGO or in a related capacity
· Strong writing/editing and oral/interpersonal communication skills
· Understanding of basic public relations and public affairs concepts and strategies
· Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
· Proficient in a range of computer software programs, particularly Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
· Ability in a second language would also be an asset
