6 Month Term Position

2010 Legacies Now is a not-for-profit society that works in partnership with community organizations, non-government organizations (NGOs), the private sector and all levels of government to develop sustainable legacies in sport & recreation, arts, literacy, and volunteerism. 2010 Legacies Now actively assists communities discover and create unique and inclusive social and economic opportunities leading up to, during and beyond the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

We are currently seeking a full-time LEAP BC Coordinator who will be responsible for daily coordination of LEAP BC for the 0 to 5 population.

LEAP BC is a new initiative currently under development, for families and caregivers, focusing on the importance of literacy, healthy eating and physical activity. 2010 Legacies Now will take the lead in developing and providing these resources in consultation and co-ordination with key stakeholders and existing programs.

LEAP BC will be the umbrella for a menu of resources to be developed. Some programs already exist and others will be written. Resource development will draw upon current theory and research in the early childhood field.


Position duties and responsibilities:

Coordinating the dissemination plan for the LEAP BC resources and program details.
Providing support and information to community stakeholders.
Coordinating components of the resource as required.
Coordinating the training and communication for the initiative.
Assisting with the production of materials and resources connected to LEAP BC.
Providing information for the LEAP BC website.
Promotion of LEAP BC to community stakeholder groups and partners.
Creation of presentations, e-bulletins and newsletters

Required skills and knowledge:

Project management experience
Experience coordinating workshops
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective cooperative relationships
High degree of administrative skills and resourcefulness
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet, email)
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a busy work environment
Knowledge of the early years 0-5 population an asset
Ideal for a recent graduate with a degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sport Management, Health Promotion, Communication.
